Adobe Audition - Insert Empty Silence into Audio Track
Yes, in Adobe Audition, you can easily insert empty silence at the end of a track. Here’s how to do it:
Open Your Track: Load the audio file into Adobe Audition by opening it in either the Waveform Editor (for a single track) or the Multitrack Editor (if you're working with multiple tracks).
Move to the End of the Track:
In the Waveform Editor, click and drag the playhead (the vertical line) to the very end of the audio waveform. You can also press Ctrl + End (Windows) or Cmd + End (Mac) to jump to the end.
In the Multitrack Editor, ensure the playhead is positioned at the end of your audio clip or session.
Insert Silence:
Go to the top menu and select Edit > Insert > Silence.
A dialog box will appear prompting you to enter the duration of the silence. Type in the desired length (e.g., "5.0" for 5 seconds, or "0.5" for half a second), then click OK.
This will add the specified amount of silence at the playhead’s position, extending the track’s duration.
Verify and Save: Play back the track to ensure the silence is added correctly at the end. Once satisfied, save your file (File > Save or Save As).
If you’re in the Multitrack Editor and want to extend the session beyond the current audio, you can also simply move the playhead to the desired end point and insert silence there—any audio to the right will shift accordingly. This method ensures your track has the extra empty space you need!
